Expectations

I'm really looking forward to relaxing and enjoying Transition year after the stress of 3rd year. I'm hoping that I'm going to make an effort to try new things and to get involved this year as I've heard advice that Transition Year is only a worthwhile experience if you get involved and is a complete waste if you just decide to slack for the year. I'm also hoping to build up my CV this year by completing interesting work experience placements and by taking classes like ECDL. I'm looking forward to going on Trips and to experiencing subjects like Cookery that I haven't been able to do in the past.

Voluntary Service

As part of my school's TY programme you have to do voluntary work. I volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul charity shop on Saturday mornings. Everyone at the shop is really nice and all the staff are very friendly. I normally work in the library, tidying bookshelves however sometimes I sort  out and price the clothes. It's a nice feeling to know that your helping those who are less fortunate than you in your community.

Subjects Term 1

I took Geography, Computer Science, Law, Tourism and Spanish as my choice subjects in the first term. Every class lasted for a double class except for Law which was a triple on a Wednesday. -I didn't enjoy Geography because I felt that the class dragged on and I thought learning about development was boring. -I enjoyed computer science class as I learned a lot of useful computer skills and I found the class very relaxing. -My favourite subject was Law as I loved studying different cases, watching interesting documentaries, learning about the courts and learning different law terms. When I leave school I think I would be interested in getting a degree in law. -Although it was interesting learning about some of the Tourism definitions, I didn't enjoy the class.
